Bramito Chardonnay Castello della Sala Antinori 2022 - Bottle
Bramito Chardonnay 2022 comes from Castello della Sala, the Antinori family's medieval castle estate in Umbria, just 18km from Orvieto. Grown on fossil-rich soils threaded with clay, it is fermented partly in oak and partly in stainless steel, giving a fresh, elegant white with notes of white flowers, chamomile, golden apple and a hint of vanilla. The little brother of the famous Cervaro della Sala, and a lot of wine for the money. Lovely with creamy pasta, roast chicken or soft cheeses. 13.5% ABV, 75cl.
Tasting notes
THEY SAY (Antinori, 2022 vintage): Bramito della Sala has a bright, intense straw yellow color. Notes of white flower blossoms and hints of chamomile dominate the nose accompanied by notes of Golden apples and hints of vanilla. The palate is fresh, extremely pleasant, and fully expresses Chardonnay's varietal character.
WE SAY: Antinori's Umbrian Chardonnay from the cellars of a genuine medieval castle. Golden apple, white flowers and a whisper of vanilla from a gentle kiss of oak - elegant without being showy. Smart enough for dinner parties, easy enough for a Tuesday. Lovely with creamy pasta, roast chicken or soft cheeses.
Production notes
Grapes from the vineyards surrounding the medieval castle of Castello della Sala, on soils rich in fossil deposits with veins of clay that give the wine minerality and elegance. Destemmed and gently crushed, with a short 2-4 hour cold maceration at 10°C. After clarification, lots fermented separately - some in oak and some in stainless steel at 16-18°C - with only the oak-fermented lots undergoing malolactic fermentation before blending and bottling. First vintage: 1994. 2022 vintage harvested mid-August to the first week of September.
